"So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question." Acts 15:2
The last two days we have taken a quick glance at Barnabas whose name means "son of consolation".
It was he whom God had appointed to assist Paul when the dispute arose about Gentiles (non-Jews becoming baptized Christians).
It led to a rift resulting in Paul and Barnabas meeting in Jerusalem with Peter and other leading Jews, to defend the Gentiles who professed faith in Christ and received Him as Lord..
Once and for all the matter was settled. Salvation is for all as the result of faith alone in Jesus Christ.
The apostles were convinced that "whosoever will" may repent of their sin and receive Christ.
What does this mean to us today?
It means we are to be about the Father's business, which is to make known that anyone who repents of his or her sin, and receives Jesus as Lord and Savior will be saved.
And when they do...What a joy............FOREVER!!
