"..Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion". Ps. 103:4

That's one of the ways the Bible identifies God; our redeemer from the pit.

Thank Him for so loving the world He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall never perish, but have everlasting life.

What a realization!

That God loves us with such love He provided eternal life before He created the world.

The Bible says, "In the beginning...God."

It was that way, because God brought everything that is into existence, including man, and at the same time looked beyond his life on earth and sent His Son to make the way for us to live with Him forever in total oneness and perfection.

He is the All Sufficient God.

The one Who became your Father the instant you received His Son as your personal Lord and Savior.

NO DOUBT....the absolute most important decision ever made by anyone.

"A just God and a Savior. There is none besides Me."  Isa. 45:21

Today boasts of many gods.

Jehovah declares Himself to be the only God.

He also said, "I am the Lord your God.  You shall have no other gods before Me."

Since it was Jehovah who created the heaven and the earth, and nothing existed without His creation of it, that's proof enough that He ONLY is God.

Wouldn't it be a different world if everyone agreed on this?

One day it will be that way all over again....and forever.

I'm looking forward to that day; the one that will never end.

It's called heaven.

"For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life..............WITH GOD!!

"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth."  Ps. 47:10

Depend on it.

God said, "I will be exalted"...both on earth and in heaven.

He is already exalted in heaven.

He will be on earth, because in that day heaven and earth shall be one and the same.

Imagine that!

Heaven.  A city fifteen hundred miles in every direction and Satan eternally bound in Hell with all his fallen angels with every soul that rejected Christ as Lord and Savior.

Your eternal home in heaven.

Is it reserved?

It is if your name is written in the Book of Life.

Absolutely guaranteed!!

July 28 2015.

"For I am God and not man, the Holy One among you.  I will not come in wrath."  Hosea 11:9

Page after page in book after book Israel is assured by God of His love for her and His unwillingness to anniahilate.

One cannot read the Old Testament and miss the love affair between Jews and Jehovah, and as the Bible concludes they continue, though still in the cross hairs of those who hate her.

They are God's chosen people, and no power has been able to change this though many through the years and even this hour despise Jews.

God has said, "I am God. I do not change."

As His child through our second birth, our confidence, too is that regardless of the threats, God remains true to His Word and steadfast in His promise of everlasting life in heaven.

There will be a day of great separation between those who are His and those who are not, but never forget that that when that day comes the dead in Christ will rise first, and all who remain will meet HIM in the air.

And forever we will BE WITH HIM!

"O Lord, is this not what I said when I was still at home?  That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish.  I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity."  Jonah 4:2

How well Jonah knew God.

In his heart he knew exactly what God would do if the citizens of Nineveh repented, and frankly this was not what Jonah felt they deserved.

Here is the evidence that man's ways are not always God's ways, but there is no doubting that His ways are best.

This is America's hope today.

The falling away from God in America is indisputable.

But repentance will result in revival, because God is not willing that any should perish but that all repent and come to Him.

This is America's hope; her only hope for full restoration to the "One Nation Under God" once so obvious to all.

He is still the gracious God of Jonah's day just waiting for us to repent and return to Him.

"By faith Abraham, even though he was past age--and Sarah herself was barren--was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise." Heb. 11:11

Take time to carefully read this verse, the human author not even identified.

Whoever wrote makes little difference, but that Abraham believed makes all the difference as it demonstrates clearly the power of faith.

Do not fail to see this truth.

Of faith, Jesus taught His disciples, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain 'move from here to there' and it will move." Mt. 17:20

This is another proof of God's power to do for us whatever is needed IF WE CAN BELIEVE!

Got any mountains you need to climb, or rivers you need to swim?

The Bible says "with God, nothing is impossible".

Abraham believed.

Isaac is the proof!

"For I am God and not man--the Holy One among you.  I will not come in wrath." Hosea 11:9c

This promise made to Israel by God is precious.

It shows His heart to His chosen people, just as John 3:16 shows it to every lost sinner whom God so loved He sent His only begotten Son to die for whosoever believes in Him and receive Him as his personal Lord and Savior.

Certainly the wrath of God is clearly visible throughout the Bible, but God's grace is greater that the worst sin a man can commit.....EXCEPT ONE.

The unforgivable sin.  The refusal of one to acknowledge his or her own sin and receive Jesus, God's sinless Son as the perfect sacrifice for the sin of man.

Do not be confused.

God must punish sin.

His fulfilled the necessity of that when He so loved the world He gave His only begotten son for the sin of man.

What a plan for the salvation of whosoever will believe and receive Christ as Savior.

Have you?

"Jonah prayed to the Lord, 'O Lord, is this not what I said when I was still at home?  That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish.  I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity." Jonah 3:2

As twenty-first century Christians living the the United States of America we can read the words of Jonah and completely agree with everything he said.

God most certainly is gracious and compassionate, otherwise we would not be here as part of a society falling over itself seeking to disregard Him and His Holy Word.

One of the most appropriate things a citizen of this country could do today is ask God for His forgiveness and repent of having disregarded His command to "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness."

"In God We Trust" (for the moment) continues to be imprinted on everything from the lowly penny to the most valuable "greenback", but actions speak much louder than words, based on statistical data related to continually decreasing attendance in the churches of the nation.

If Jonah was alive today his words would ring more clearly than when he spoke them.

Surely God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abiding in love.

America's bent to sinful living gives proof of this every Sunday with half empty churches.

"By faith Abraham, even though he was past age --and Sarah herself was barren--was enabled to become a father because he considered Him faithful Who had made the promise." Heb. 11:
11.

Perhaps as many today you need a "Faith-lift".

The eleventh chapter of Hebrews will give you just that.

God is not careless concerning His promises.  He keeps every one He has made.

Verse 13 of this same eleventh chapter of Hebrews declares, "All of these people were still living by faith when they died.  They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance."

As "practicing" Christians, you and I are today's examples of those living by faith that God will absolutely do what He has promised.

Do not doubt.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

What He has said, HE WILL DO!

"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Deut. 33:27

We tend to forget don't we?

Like this very time in America.

As statistics substantiate, an almost unbelievable falling away by church members has occurred.

As a farm boy I remember the days from "laying by" to "harvest" as revival meeting days.

As a young preacher I hardly had a week free during those days as some church had scheduled a revival and invited me to preach.  Such was also the schedule of several of my preacher brothers.

Things HAVE changed.

But not God.

He is still our refuge.

But we have forgotten.

Unfortunately, today's headlines proclaim "too busy for God!"

"The Lord is my strength and my song.  He has become my salvation .  He is my God and I will praise Him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name." Exodus 15:2

Devotionals are much more often read by ladies than men.

For this reason I want to appeal to wives. requesting your assistance in asking your husband to read   this one.

It is good for men to understand that Moses, the writer, declared clearly that God was his strength, song, and salvation deserving of his praise.

A man is never more of a man than when he acknowledges, just as did Moses, that God is a warrior worthy of exaltation.

Satan despises it when a man unashamedly confesses that he needs God to fulfill his manliness.

When was the last time ...outside the church walls...you willingly confessed that without God you would be nothing?

Moses said,"THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH AND SONG".

Men, make this your aim.

July 16, 2015

"The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name." Ex. 15:2-3

I sometimes wonder if some understand just how great a defender of His people is Jehovah God.

Not even one of the many identifiable non-gods being worshipped today could defend himself even if he had to stand face to face against Jehovah.

I was only a boy when Japan struck the U.S. at Pearl Harbor putting fear and dread into the hearts of Americans from coast to coast.

Even as a 7 year old I was greatly comforted two days later when President Roosevelt addressed congress and the nation with the strong reminder that "We have nothing to fear but fear itself."

I was not yet "born again" that day, but for the leader of America to give the nation assurance that her president was trusting God to protect and provide strengthened my courage and greatly reduced the fear that has assailed everyone that past Sunday when the radio stations blasted the news of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

That same God ....the very same...is still on His throne.  As Moses wrote in Exodus, "the Lord is His name'. I believe He continues to have the power to overcome whatever is trying to overcome us today.  He desires greatly to be the strength, the song, the warrior of whomever will allow Him to their Savior!!

"For the Lord's portion is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye." Deut. 32:9-10

Consider these two verses as one the the greatest illustrations of God's grace in the entire Bible.

It is the word picture of the salvation of Jacob as God changed him and re-named him Israel.

One can not ponder long what God did until coming to the place of praise and thanks for what God already done, or desired to do, for every sinner who repents of his or her sin and receives Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

Every person is born in sin.

Satan's desire is to change nothing.

But God so loved the world He sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. (Jh. 3:16)  The picture of our COMPASSIONATE GOD.

He loves you just as He loved Jacob.

Who can doubt it in view of the verse above?

July 14, 2015

According to 1 Timothy 1:11, Jehovah is our "blessed God", the same one entrusted to Timothy.

For a fact, we know that He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

How comforting to have the assurance that He never changes, most especially in these continually changing times.''

He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the very same as the Father of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I need that kind of stability and assurance in these ever-changing times where literally hundreds of gods, which are no gods at all, are being worshiped by untold millions on every continent.

The apostle Paul wrote in the opening words of First Timothy of many in his day who were worshiping false gods, but he identified Jehovah as Blessed God, because He Only is God.

Do not be deceived.

We are accountable and will give a report to Him one day of whom we worshiped on this earth.

Only Jehovah, "Blessed God" will have the power to open heaven.

"When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, 'I am God
Almighty, walk before me and be blameless."  Gen. 17:1

Our English alphabet consists of 26 letters; A -Z, and there is at least one verse somewhere in the Bible where a word appears beginning with one of those characters.

Let's do a word search of the scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to teach us the truths conveyed by the words A-Z.    (Why not make a list and keep it tucked in your Bible)

In the verse shown above you see the word Almighty.

No better way to begin our Bible search than to recognize exactly Who God is as He Himself said to Abraham, "I am Almighty".

What a comfort to know that "regardless", no matter what we face, there is no power, greater than Almighty God.

What a comfort in this day of confusion when so many gods other than Jehovah are being worshiped that He  has declared Himself alone ALMIGHTY.

Trust Him.

You need no other.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Ps. 32:8

Five times the word "you" appears in this single promise of God.

Meditate on this fact.

God Himself has promised that He Himself will instruct, teach, counsel and watch over us.

If you need assurance, just soak up to the depths of your spirit how all sufficiently God has assured us of His counsel and care.

An old hymn, "Never Alone" put this promise to music, and I have sung it since childhood.

"No, never alone, no never alone.  He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone."

Drawing ever nearer to 82 years, He has always been there for me.

Aren't you glad He made the same promise to you?

Rejoice that He did!

"The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods." Ps. 16:8

What God has said, you can believe.'

What is unbelievable is that some who know intellectually what God has said still deny Him by worshiping other gods.

There is no denying what God has said.

Those who refuse to believe Him will suffer the consequences exactly as David wrote.

He knew all about them from experience.

But thanks be to God's grace he repented of his sin, and God forgave him.

The choice has been given to us.

Will our sorrows increase, or will we turn from our unbelief and rejoice in His forgiveness and be restored to oneness with our gracious God?

"If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."  2 Chr. 7:14

THAT IS A PROMISE GIVEN TO GOD'S PEOPLE.

Conditional?

Yes.

Humility, prayer, confession, repentance.

For how long?

As important as is healing, time should not be a problem.

Whatever the time, it will be worth it.

 THE SOONER, THE BETTER!

"After they prayed...they were filled with the Holy Spirit...." Acts 4:31

That's only a portion of what the Bible says in this passage, but it's the "power portion" available to  EVERY CHRISTIAN today.

Praying is the most private thing in which one can engage.

It is absolutely confidential.

Just between you and God.

One can pray with eyes wide open and mouth tightly closed, and as far as I know there is not a single law that declares this to be illegal.

Have you ever said, "I wish I could do something about the way things are today"?

There is.

And only you and God will know you are doing it.

Until He answers your prayer and all will know that someone has been praying.

Make that someone YOU!

"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13

Without question, Christians are under attack today; called to give an account for their faith in a society that does not embrace Jesus.

Peter and John are examples of those who stood upon their faith in Christ in a time bent on rejecting Him.

The demonstration of their faith brought these men into direct conflict with those in authority; a situation not unlike a major problem Christians face today in a faithless society.

Luke, the human instrument chosen of God to write the Book of Acts, said that when the authorities became astonished at the boldness and courage of Peter and John they realized it was because they "had been with Jesus".

He is the same One Who will give one the courage to stand up today.

He's all we have.

But He is enough!

"In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust;let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Thy righteousness." Ps. 31:1

"In God We Trust".

It's still there.  Engraved or Imprinted on each coin and bill of currency in your pocket or purse.

And yes, it did come straight from the Bible, because God was real in the heart of our forefathers, and the Power above all powers.

Thank God tomorrow that He is not dead. Nor does He sleep.

It is our privilege to salute this country.

It is even more a blessing, indeed, that it is still thought of by both friend and foe as One Nation Under God...and

that God is

JEHOVAH.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people He has chosen for His own inheritance."  Ps. 33:12

Bless yourself this Fourth of July.

Deliberately include in your plans a special time of naming blessings of God which you enjoy because America is One Nation Under God.

Each of us needs to take this inventory and to thank God for every blessing.

Just imagine the joy and delight God will receive as you, alone, or you and your loves ones make a time during your day to acknowledge the truth, even with all its problems, that America is great because God has blessed us.

Don't be surprised if you develop a lump in your throat or a tear in your eye.  It's about time we stood still and stayed quiet long enough to focus on God and give Him honor, thanks and praise that rightly He should receive.

You might even want to sing, "God bless America.  Land that I love. Stand before her and guide her through the night with a light from above."

God inhabits the praises of His children.   Include Him in your celebration of America's Birthday.

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart." Ps. 37:4

This is the Old Testament equivalent to the words of Jesus as He preached the Sermon on the Mount and said, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."

Getting our priorities right is step one in experiencing the abundant life God sent Jesus to give us.

The testimony of Dr. Charles Stanley is that he remains still before the Lord each morning before arising, deliberately putting on the whole armor of God, piece by piece.

The spiritual accomplishments of his life bear witness that this practice has been well pleasing to the Lord.

It "might" require two minutes of time, but the investment of beginning the day focused on deliberately and consciously putting God in charge of your life will bear dividends beyond belief.

It is never to late to practice His presence.  Acknowledge it tomorrow morning as you awake....before flipping on the tv or radio.

He's got much more valuable information than the best news channel or music station is capable of providing.  And best of all; whatever God says in TRUE.
